Susannah Garland is a painter and sculptor. In 2008, she went to live in France. Within six months, she was invited to stage an exhibition in her village. Five exhibitions followed in the next three years. A local hotel used one of her paintings for publicity, which encouraged her to develop a range of postcards depicting life and landmarks of Burgundy. This now numbers sixty five images, which are sold as cards and prints by shops, tourist offices, galleries, restaurants and hotels in Burgundy. She returns regularly to work there. Tourists from the United States, the Far East, Germany, Holland, as well as French and English, have bought her paintings.
Susannah now lives on The Lizard in Cornwall. Her paintings and sculptures have been exhibited extensively in east Sussex, London, Somerset, Dorset, Cornwall, and France, and her work is sold through National Trust properties in Somerset and Dorset, selling as prints and cards in their visitor shops. Her work is on permanent display at La Maison de Pays de l’Auxois Sud, in Burgundy, France.
In 2014 Susannah was invited by the Dean and Chapter of Wells Cathedral to stage an exhibition in the Cathedral. The invitation was repeated in 2018, and another successful exhibition produced 21 sales. In the same year, she was accepted by the Society of Architectural Illustrators, after five pieces of her work were judged by their selection Committee.
